Metal Edging for a Refined Tabletop Finish
Some client prefer to cover the black edge, instead of adding cost to make colored core, lifepursue suggested to use metal banding, at the same time can provide extra protect and easier to assemble with marineplywood underneath. This range HPL is 10-12mm still, but don’t need to process edge, corner is changing per metal band radius.
Tabletop Sizes and Cost Considerations
The décor scheme is available for all 1220*2440mm HPL panels, so as well, the perfect size for cost control would be 60cm, 60*120cm, 120cm, 120*240cm to make full use of split. It’s also a common size for plywood, and the machine that process panels mostly is limit to the size, that’s why sometime 60cm tables are priced lower. But as long as the CNC machine starts, the cost for processing is inevitable, actual pricing also depends on CNC machining, edge fabrication, corner details and other processing requirements—not material cost alone.
Surface Finishes and Substrate Options
Being the most important A side that face people, color and finish are very important, most case we make matt finish that absorb lights which is more immersive for warm theme environments. Below the HPL layer, we choose birch core marineplywood as substrate, composite with the HPL layer together thickness make to 25-40mm. All the surface are varnished and sealed with a double anti-UV coating to help protect them in humid environments.

The metal band has aluminum type and stainless steel type, with brushed matt finish, also can do glossy brush or matt/glossy powder coat.
Aluminum is anodized for outdoor, no need to make color twice unless powder coat needed. Aluminium is also used for the bistro wavy-edge profile, which is formed with a mould; the curve and thickness can be customized. Round, square and rectangular tabletop shapes are available.
Stainless steel grade 304 is available for outdoor applications, but it is not recommended for exposure to seawater or highly corrosive marine conditions. Stainless steel edges are finished with concealed welds for a clean, seamless appearance.
Available edge profiles include:
Flat edge: A solid stainless steel band running parallel to the tabletop.
Tube edge: A hollow band running parallel to the tabletop; the sealant colour may be slightly visible.
L-shaped folded edge: A practical profile that can be reversed to use either side. It is generally easier and faster to manufacture and has has more visible banding area, most recommended. (bistro wavy edge is also this type).
Metal band colors
Standard colour options include black, silver, titanium gold, champagne gold and rose gold. Lifepursue can also offer brass, copper and RAL powder-coated colours.
A bronze effect is created with a two-stage brushing process: a brass-gold base followed by a black brushed finish.
Individual package and overall palletize
Each tabletop is wrapped in a bubble bag and packed in a carton. For long-distance transportation, table tops are usually palletized to make handling and shipment more convenient.
